As part of its mission to be the leader of the global university sports movement, the International University Sports Federation (FISU) has created two separate but interconnected programmes to support the development of emerging leaders and university sport across the world.
FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy The FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy (FVLA) is a unique educational event designed to give emerging leaders a variety of lectures and seminars about international university sport and how to manage volunteer programmes and then apply them in their national (NUSF) or continental (CUSF) university sport federations.
FISU Student Ambassadors Programme Following taking part in the Academy, delegates are appointed as FISU Student Ambassadors and are tasked with creating individual action plans, to plan and deliver relevant and specific activity together with their NUSF or CUSF to support the development of university sport in their home country or continent.

Student Ambassadors about FVLA
The 2020 FVLA was not only remarkable but definitely unique in its own way! Besides the amazing lectures, I found the FVLA as a "successful experiment, successfully explored." Witnessing the whole globe involved in university sport come together virtually proved that indeed nothing is possible until it's done. I personally learned and advanced my skills in a variety of aspects; leadership, creativity and team work, just to mention a few. One word for the 2020 FVLA? Velikolepnyy!
I found great value in the 2020 FVLA, in particular the sessions that delivered on soft skills. The presentations were engaging and provided easily transferable tips to apply to my volunteer and academic work. The FVLA and Student Ambassador programme have given me the impetus to drive change in my university, sport, and country. I'm excited to see what I can achieve in the coming year.
For me, the most interesting part of the FVLA this year was the ability to learn, grow and make worldwide connections even through the current circumstances. Learning about how leadership and sports participation can have a large positive impact on individuals and the world was truly an eye opening experience!
I was able to learn and share my own experiences. Being able to understand how these international connections can work, I am very grateful to FISU and CBDU (Confederação Brasileira do Desporto Universitário) for this opportunity.
What I found really interesting was being able to connect with so many different cultures. And also, learning different strategies from around the world, as to how people are developing university sports.
2020 FVLA sessions were one of the greatest experience for me. I had chance to hear more about University sport events and meet people all over the world. Studying new things, improve your skills was amazing, connect and change different cultures was awesome and organizing committee was very cool. Finally, It was fantastic three days with FVLA and I am very grateful to FISU.
I found the online sessions very insightful and interesting informations. It was amazing to meet different people from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about Sports and education. I enjoyed learning about public speaking, the different tools and strategies used and many other informative sessions. It was a great opportunity to be part of and to connect with such diverse and inclusive young people. To be part of FISU is a blessing
I have participated for many online events previously but the 2020 FVLA is different. Eventhough it was the first ever online FVLA in FISU history, it did not feel like an online session. Not only we got knowledge but also we had the opportunity to get multinational exposure of experiences thanks to the well organised, fine tuned sessions we had. Thanks a lot FISU family!
